Before / After of Guillemette’s ethnic house in Spain
Reader Guillemette Notarangelo Dormans moved with her family from Switzerland to Aguas de Busot in search of a house to renovate, with two requirements: that it be close to nature and that it have a lot of potential!
Her partner was originally from Alicante, and they decided to return, accompanied by their two daughters, in search of a quiet place close to nature. « I visited this 170 m² property in Aguas de Busot alone and fell in love with it. After viewing around 20 houses, I knew this was the one! » adds the host.
THE ROOM
Before

“The town is charming and the house had enormous potential. I’m an interior designer and I’m lucky enough to have my brothers-in-law working on the site, so I was looking for something to renovate ,” she admits.

The structure was in good condition, « but I had to change the entire decor because I didn’t like it at all. There was even an orange tiled floor and yellow painted walls! » explains Guillemette.
THE LIVING ROOM – KITCHEN
The open space with the living room, dining room and kitchen is her favorite place. “I wanted a Mediterranean decor with ethnic touches , so I opted for natural tones like beige and pieces made of fiber or rattan,” she explains.

They also have a huge sofa where the four of them can spend time together: » We really like the leather one ! It’s great for lying down and chatting or watching a movie together. »

THE KITCHEN
The room is very bright and is surrounded by terraces with views of the sea and the mountains. « There is a large terrace opposite the kitchen, and I thought about extending the house there . But it was a disappointment, because current regulations did not allow it due to lack of space, » he confides.

THE ROOMS
Guillemette also works with luxury hotels, so in addition to picking up tips from the magazine , she draws inspiration from the decor of the rooms she visits.

For the master bedroom, she chose a terracotta color that reminded her of her travels to Morocco and, at the same time, gave it a relaxing atmosphere. As for the girls’ bedrooms, two colors took center stage: pink and blue.

THE PORCH AND THE GARDEN
As an alternative to the failed house extension, Guillemette created a self-contained 40 m² apartment with a patio where there had previously been only a games room. The result? A perfect place to entertain friends and family.

Today, the garden is an ideal place to share and enjoy the incredible views of the Costa Blanca in the best company. What more could you ask for?
